My Updated Concealer Routine

In recent weeks I have been playing with new ways of applying my concealer. I had begun to notice that my concealer was starting crease and settle into my fine lines, I'm not getting any younger girls. So I started to look for ways to help resolve the issue.

I started by baking my under eye area, which worked well until I started to look a little to powdered under my eye. As a dry skinned girl, I like to make my face dewy and often avoid powder as much as I can. On a recent shopping trip to Bullring in Birmingham, I ended up discussing this with one of the Make-Up Artists in Selfridges and she advised I used an eyeshadow primer under my concealer to help it stick better. While I gave this a try, and it did work a treat, I wondered if there was a specific product for this instead.

Low and behold, there is.

Meet the Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer £20.

I purchased this around a month ago and it has completely changed my concealer game. Smashbox have ''taken our signature silky primer texture and infused it with 10 amazing benefits to address everyday eye woes.'' Since I have been using this product it has helped to smooth out my fine lines and stopped my concealer looking to cakey, I found my concealer lasted longer and looked smooth until the end of the day. It has quickly become a staple to my make-up bag!

With my confidence in my non-creasing concealer, I decided it was time I investigate new concealer products.

And so I also discovered MAC Prep And Prime Highlighter pen in Radiant Rose £20.

Although this is technically a highlighting pen, it works well for under the eyes to help brighten them. I was blessed with dark circles under my eyes and I found this helps to alleviate these. This is lightweight formula that blends out quickly and almost leaves me not needing to add concealer.

But I often take the more is more approach and so I like to add concealer on top of this.

I recently decided to try a new concealer, the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer £19.

I was excited to try this concealer, although I am very late to this party! For me a dab under the eyes is enough for me. I'll be honest, I was colour matched to a colour slightly too dark for me but I can make it work. It is a nice consistency, covers well but I do prefer my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer which is a lot cheaper!

So that concludes my latest concealer routine. Are there any concealer recommendations you would like to share?
